Low Sec and Piracy

The Eve Pirate in general is no pirate.

In Eve for most intents and purposes my character's direction and the direction of my corp would be considered one of piracy. We dwell in low sec and maintain a low security status, and we enjoy bringing conflict to the region and looting haulers when we can't get 'good fights'.

But are we really pirates? We have no dreams of wealth, and we hold no 'charter' from a power to destroy certain groups vessels and keep the profit. We are not treasure seeking, and we tend to steer away from the more democratic nature of pirate culture. In a classic sense we are not Pirates at all, nor are most of the denizens that reside in low security space, but we are not simple criminals or outlaws either.

Capsuleers in low security space, the true -10 folk, do not actively seek to do sites or exploration, do not take missions, and do not engage the NPC pirates in any region. Their sole targets are other capsuleers. They want to fight and kill and be killed by fellow capsuleers. There are no deeper goals, no desire to build a great empire or secret brotherhood, just individuals that band together with blood thirsty sorts and kill people like themselves in fair sport.

Thinking (never too deeply) I feel that the low sec dweller in the context of eve is a noble if not the most noble play style. Low Sec dwellers make no effort to exploit the common folk (mortals),do not lay waste to pirates or their habitats, do not fight for any unified cause or government ideology (generally) and seek no empires, they stay disconnected from the Eve PVE experience and in an RP perspective remain aloof from the universe as a whole. Appearing in stations to repair, resupply, and then to undock and proceed to fight one another.

A true Valhalla experience if any, the Capsuleer gods whose only interest is to engage in eternal struggle with others like them for no gain. Eve low sec dwellers are not Pirates at all, they are vikings.. the catch is they do not care if you don't want to play their game or not.. step into their territory and you are on the battlefield for better or worse.

People say low sec is a forgotten place and some say it is a ghetto, but really it is the last refuge where there is a potential for small scale good fights. (Getting blobbed too, it happens, but it happens in all regions of eve… High Sec wardecs included, and worse the neutral rep assholes) Is there anything that could make low sec better? Possibly, but it is honestly not as broken as people believe it is. Senseless battle is not for the profit seeking, it is for the thrill seeking.

Some tears

http://soapy.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10804426

Alliance mate and chief of our training corp popped this guy and his pod and had a great conversation with him.  Thought I would share it here, left it all unedited so you can enjoy my mate Wig's poor spelling.  Hope all the rage was worth that water he lost, but I guess in the end someone is going thirsty.

[08:34:20] Dcoysucker > dum shit
[08:34:35] saiu1wig > well would it be better for me to blow up your pod then?
[08:34:43] Dcoysucker > np with me

The Nyan Cat Pirates

The Nyan Cat Pirates
Refined Gentlemen Pirates with Rainbows Shitting out their Asses

The Nyan Cat Pirates was a spin off from my old corp Bath and Body Works, and was mostly a protest against the excessive 'blueing' of potential targets while living in Sinq Liason.  It was also a good detachment from my previous corp and an opportunity for a fresh new direction.   As long as I have had Ezeria I have had the pilot in a combat sense and nearly 80% of my career with the pilot has been in Low Sec.

Certainly I am not elite and my kill volume is low as I tend to be a weekend warrior. Living in Japan means my play times and availability to find pilots to fly with is limited. (Aussies tend to fly with Aussies and finding Aussie Pirates is a pain in the ass, and Eve in the market in Japan.. not yet..)

My glorious killboard banner

I forged The Nyan Cat Pirates to be what SOAPY wasn't.  A chilled out place for pure piracy and higher skilled SP pilots to hangout and possibly help developing pilots that we can feed into a training corp.   So the manage the madness I made an alliance (Extract.)  It has three corporations with specific roles:

(1) The Nyan Cat Pirates  - Flagship corporation.  Sp limit of 25m or more.  Pilots should be criminals (-5 sec or lower).  HACs and Logistic capable (Skills at Level IV and V respectfully). Self-sufficient, and capable pilots that can lead and help run ops and make sure we are having fun as a community.

(2) Nyan Cat Logistics - For alts, money makers, and friends who just don't wanna be criminals. They do backbone work for the alliance and see to a steady supply of BCs, and T1 cruisers at typically no cost.

(3) Bath and Body Works - my old corp and the bastard child of the alliance. Perfect for training new pilots. Goal is to dump as many low sp hungry pirates into it and distribute them all the rifters, ruptures, arbitrators, thoraxes they need to have fun.

The Plan is pretty much that.  We're still getting on our feet, and haven't really pressed the recruitment drive button. We moved to a quiet region and have yet to decide if that was brilliant or stupid.  What I do know is that the guys we have are good, if not in skills, in attitude. We enjoy hanging out as much as we do roaming and that community and chilling is a big deal to me. In time I hope we can find ourselves a bucket load of newbies who want to yarr with us, and in time we can filter them into our flagship corp as they grow into the HAC, Logi, BC, BS, and etc pilots everyone turns into after a good year into the game.

Logistics...durr?

Not many people know me in eve. I am an unknown, and happily so. My favorite thing to hear in chats (even my own pubs) is: "Who are you again?"

The answer is nobody. Why would a Pirate or a villain want to be known or to bring unwanted attention to him/herself. (Deletes this blog now)

A short introduction: I ran and managed a corp called: Bath and Body Works for exactly one year before I turned it over to another member. The reason for the sudden drop was a general frustration with the alliance I was in at the time. The alliance was S I L E N T. and my issue wasn't a personality one, all of the SILENT guys are awesome and very easy to talk to.

The issue was over tactics and methods for fleets. I like uniformity in fits and logistics and organization. To the nice guys in SILENT that was a bit too much work a lot of the time.

I think they've learned their lesson though...

Engaging a gang that (you won't fully see from the battle report) had 3 onerios's and 5 guardians makes you wonder exactly how this larger force of mixed bag ships could ever be knocked over (/sarcasm)

These bastards are awesome in pairs and better in groups of four <3.

When I ran SOAPY and now The Nyan Cat Pirates I have two rules for training: fly a racial HAC and a Logistics ship (train for them). Naturally the best for Armor are Guardians and Scimitars or Basilisks are both alright in my book. (Prefer Scimitars though as a personal preference)

When your guys can field HACs, Logi at anytime and can interchange between them, it makes fleeting options more awesome.

Right now my corp is small, and the alliance is full of guys I trust. We'll grow slowly and steadily, innovate, and develop fleet comps that don't get curb stomped by a logi backed small gang of super T3s.

Hello World

Just starting a blog... I will learn how to do this eventually. Stand by for stuff.
